It's September 1st! I can't even believe it. Where on earth did the summer go?

With the start of fall and school and all that jazz, I decided to challenge myself to blog more often again. I'm not sure if any of you have heard of the Day Zero Project or not, but I started mine on August 20th. Basically, the project is helping people cross things off their bucket list. The catch is that you have a deadline. The list is supposed to be 101 things to get done in 1001 days. For those of you who aren't math prodigies, that means I have until May 17th, 2014 to finish my list.

If you want more information about the project, check out their website at http://dayzeroproject.com/. It's pretty cool. Just saying.

I have a few friends doing this, too. Some of them are blogging every item they cross off their list. I decided to use this extra motivation to really try and take control of my life. That means that some of my items are a little to personal for me to want to put all over the web. I have, however, shared my entire list with some trusted friends so that I do have some accountability.

I will probably let you in on a few of my items as the time goes on. I can tell you that, to date, I have four items crossed off my list. I successfully left my house without worrying that I didn't match, I saw Glee 3D with Lil Sis, I cleaned my closet, and I got rid of 100 things that I didn't need anymore. (Yes, that means I have way too much stuff! Especially because I'm pretty sure I could get rid of another 100 if I really forced myself.)

I'm not sure how successful I will be at crossing everything off my list, but I do have a decent amount of motivation. For one thing, I love lists and crossing things off of them! So that's helpful in and of itself. The 101st item on my list is also that I will donate $5 to charity for each item I don't cross off (thanks to Sarah for that idea!). That's a lot of money if I really suck at this.

It's the start of a new school year, why wait until New Year's to set some goals. I hardly look at any of this as "resolutions." I much prefer choosing to set goals that are challenging, yet achievable. And that have a time frame attached to them.

For all of you who have missed my blog, one of the items is to blog 30 days in a row. I figure I better start trying on that one right away because it might take me a while. The good news for you is that I should be posting more regularly.

I'm excited to turn over a new leaf, even though I know I will be challenged and tested through several of the items I chose to put on my list. It won't be easy, but I know God will be with me through it all. Through skydiving despite my fear of heights, and being serious about getting in shape and eating healthy. Through giving up something that has had a grip on me for far too long, and reading the Bible all the way through again. Through taking time to send 100 pieces of mail, and getting up the nerve to audition for a musical. Through learning new skills, and exploring new things. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

I pray for strength and patience as I start this journey. And I pray for blessings to any of you who feel led to do something similar.

May you go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
- Isaiah 55:12
